The short version

Smart Content Shield Pro does not collect, store, transmit, sell, or share any personal data. Everything the extension does happens locally inside your own browser. There are no accounts, no analytics, and no external servers.

What the extension does

Smart Content Shield Pro hides unwanted content (specific words, semantically matched paragraphs, and related images) on the web pages you visit. It does this in two ways, both entirely on your device:

Literal keyword filter — matches the exact words you add and hides them as pages load.
On-device AI filter — uses Chrome's built-in Gemini Nano model, which runs locally on your computer, to blur content that matches concepts you enable (toxicity, violence, spoilers, or your own custom rule).

Page content analyzed by the AI is processed locally by Chrome's built-in model. It is never sent to us or to any third party.

Information we handle

The extension stores your settings using Chrome's local extension storage (chrome.storage.local / chrome.storage.session). This includes:

Your blocked-word list, filter toggles, and custom rules
Appearance preferences (blur style, colors, sensitivity)
Your whitelist of trusted sites
Local block counters/statistics shown in the dashboard
The parental-lock PIN, stored only as a one-way SHA-256 hash — the plaintext PIN is never stored

All of this stays on your device. It is never uploaded, synced to us, or transmitted anywhere. Uninstalling the extension permanently deletes it.

What we do NOT do

We do not collect personal or sensitive information.
We do not track your browsing history or the pages you visit.
We do not use analytics, advertising, or fingerprinting.
We do not send any data to external or third-party servers.
We do not sell or share any data with anyone.
We do not use your data for credit, lending, or any unrelated purpose.

Permissions

Storage — to save your settings locally, as described above.

Host access (all sites) — a content filter must be able to read and modify page text and images in order to hide blocked content, and unwanted content can appear on any website. This processing happens locally in the page; no page data is collected or sent anywhere.

Children's privacy

The extension includes an optional parental-control lock. It collects no data from anyone, including children. The lock is a local deterrent and is not a substitute for supervision.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the updated version will be posted at this page with a revised "last updated" date.
